I was pleased with the quality I got for the price I paid. The ferules are solid as is the reel seat. I surf cast with it in Northern California in rough seas with 1-3 ounce rigs and it held up very well.

    Great travel rod

    Posted by Anonymous on 02/26/2014

Took this rod to Belize. It fit nicely into my suitcase. Hooked on to a few bonefish and had the fight of my life. The rod was great and handled the fight a lot better than the 10 lb test line I had on the reel. Lesson learned next time I use 30 lb test. I'll be ready and I'm sure the rod will be. Couldn't ask for a better telescoping rod.

I put it to the test and it did have some failings.

I bought two of the 8 footers and four of the 7 footers and we brought them to the Amazon jungle and fished peacock bass and other intense game fish. I was pleasantly surprised that the rods generally held up well. None of the rod tubes broke. The packaging that they come in is excellent and protects them well in transport. The problems we have and the reason for three stars is that the line guides are put on a little cheaply and we had a number of these break during use. I was able to repair them with super glue and epoxy, however in repairing them you are sometimes inadvertently gluing the rod tube in place so it cannot be stored normally. Now I admit that my use of the rod was maybe extreme. but I think that we gave it a fair test with appropriate fishing for a med-heavy rod. All of the equipment was handled professionally. I would like to see them glue the guides a little better. The broken ones showed an incomplete layer of glue. On the other end of it, I would buy them again because of the convenience and the fact that the rod concept over all held up well. Just be sure to bring along some superglue, epoxy and maybe a rod repair kit. Happy fishing! Buy the way... fishing in the backwaters of the Amazon is incredible.

    Good while it lasted

    Posted by Unknown on 08/06/2013

I used this rod for saltwater fishing for Jacks in Belize and Salmon in AK and it held up well until the eyelets started corroding. I'd make sure to rinse it in fresh water after every use, but you get what you pay for. It was very good while it lasted and will be ordering another one as they are well worth the 20 bucks.

Solid rod that holds up to 30 lb. test. I've ordered two from Mudd Creek and I'm very happy with the product.

Ordered this rod from Mudd Creek and it came in lightning fast time as usual. This rod seems to be really solid and I've ordered a total of two. I probably will end up ordering another one. Very happy with Mudd Creek and this product.
