I sky fish with huge kites with an open-faced salt water reel. Thirty - fifty lb. line. When the wind is strong I can close the weakest sections. I want more.

    South Bend Proton

Posted by Darrell H. on 10/10/2015

I recieved the South Bend Proton Rod. It is six foot long, not 6ft 6in as advertised. I've not fished it yet, but it has a nice firm parabolic action. I bought this to use to chunk crankbaits while paddling a canoe, the tele-action will make this feasible without having to break a rod down if a portage comes up. I do with it was longer.

Nice rod easy set up and looks like it could handle a 4lb bass very easily.

I purchased this product to pack and take on a fishing trip out of state. This trip will be in June -- I will not know until then how good this product is. I have installed an Ambassador reel on this rod and am hoping for the best.

I bought this hoping it was an ultra lite. It's really a medium weight. However I fish in a river full of trout and it also has muskies. I'll use it for the muskies when the trout aren't biting
